Where You’re Treated Makes a Difference

August 12, 2020 – The Community Oncology Alliance Patient Advocacy Network (CPAN) hosted their inaugural Advocacy Chat, a series of short conversations about factors YOU can affect to improve the quality of cancer care.

Our first guest was Dr. Mark Thompson, COA’s Medical Director of Public Policy.

There are many places where people with cancer can go for treatment, but not all cancer care is created equally. Watch as COA Director of Patient Advocacy & Education Rose Gerber and Mark Thompson, MD discussed how community oncology is different than other types of care.

Learn more about why where you are treated for cancer makes a difference, the impact of community oncology, and why it is important to preserve local, affordable, and accessible cancer care in America.

This event was a part of our new virtual CPAN Advocacy Chats – short, monthly educational webinars on key cancer issues and the policies that impact them. Each month will feature a new topic and special guests joining us. Patients, survivors, caregivers, and other cancer care advocates are all invited to join us for these free, interactive, virtual events!

CPAN Advocacy Chats are regular virtual 30-minute educational conversations about cancer advocacy and policy with a guest speaker invited to discuss issues important to patients and advocates. Summaries of previous Advocacy Chats are available on the CPAN website.
