$2.5 Million Grant May Help Increase Lung Cancer Screenings in Underserved Communities

A new PanCAN-authored paper uses feedback provided by patients with pancreatic cancer to identify trends in reporting pain.

In a move to lower health care costs for Americans, HHS announced earlier this year that it intends to take swift action to implement President Donald Trump’s Most Favored Nation (MFN) prescription drug pricing executive order.

An electronic health record (EHR) alert identifying patients with high-risk metastatic cancer entering the hospital, followed by a targeted set of interventions, resulted in significantly fewer 30-day readmissions and reduced length of stay (LOS) in a real-world study led by Michelle M. Chin, MS, from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, and colleagues. Findings were recently published in JCO Oncology Practice.

Patients need to communicate clearly with their health care provider. But that’s getting more difficult for those in the U.S. who don’t speak English.
