Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute
World-Class Medicine. Hometown Care.
CPAN’s Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) chapter was launched in January 2014 and is an important part of our national advocacy network. FCS has nearly 100 locations across the state which dispels a common misconception that community oncology practices are limited to one location or just rural areas.
More than 90 FCS advocates have attended the annual Community Oncology Conference advocacy track and regularly participate in CPAN activities. Events have included meeting with Congressional leaders in Washington, speaking at national and state oncology events, and sharing their cancer stories as part of COA’s national I Am Community Oncology campaign. Additionally, CPAN’s FCS chapter hosts CPAN signature events including our Sit in my Chair event- which included visits from Congressman Ted Yoho, and staff representing Congressman Gus Bilirakis, Senator Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, and Congressman Francis Rooney. Led by CPAN Chapter Advocacy Leader Beth A. Wittmer, RN, BSN, OCN, Director, Care Management, our FCS CPAN advocates work to support policies that make cancer care more affordable while eliminating barriers to life-saving community-based cancer care.
