Breast Cancer

In 2017 my husband was diagnosed with squamous cell head and neck cancer. I spent months learning about his type of cancer, advocating for him, and educating community groups about head and neck cancer. In late summer of 2019, his doctor found his cancer spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, and liver.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. I researched to learn more about my type of breast cancer, and my goal is to create awareness of the types, stages, and grades of breast cancer.

Throughout a cancer patient and caregiver role, I increased my advocacy work by volunteering with your organization, the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Research Advocacy program, and Support for People with Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC). I also subscribe to the Journal of Oncology, Medline Plus, Conquer: the patient voice, Cancer Therapy Advisor, Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators, and the National Cancer Institute’s updates list. Cancer care, research, advocacy, and policy are my passion.
