Breast Cancer

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 ( a year after finding my lump) at 38 yrs. A young wife, mother to 5 and 2 bonus kids, and new grandma. I had undergone a double mastectomy (June 2016). I have done several rounds of chemo & radiation (a secondary, cervical cancer was found thru complications of mastectomy!), The last round of chemo lasted 8-9 hrs each day I went. The list of side effects I deal with and have dealt with is astounding, I have had transfusions, emergency hospitalizations, life-threatening infections, and internal radiation burns (brachytherapy) that resulted in 4 days of hospitalization & a colostomy. I’ve been very fortunate, after 6 months I was able to have my ostomy reversed, many are not so lucky. My family lost everything, but I am alive! Dr. Aggarwal & Fort Wayne Medical Oncology & Hematology…SAVED MY LIFE. I received the care no matter what time of day, or what day it was. Cancer at any age is a scary diagnosis, but not a death sentence. So much more to say!
